Honestly, I can't think of anything that says "mythology" and "storytelling" in one icon better then the Lyre. I think I can recall a lyre (or sometimes a flute, really) in stories that hit numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5 on your list. Certainly Orpheus used it for 2 and 4, right?

For a good logo, perhaps a coat of arms? A Lyre, a Sword, a Book, and a Beast (head emerging from cave, of course), all on a shield of arms? Is that too 13th Century wannabe? ;-) I'm in a Dark ages mood...
