Kurt Vonnegut's writer's rules
Apr. 16th, 2007 10:43 amJane Espenson posted on her blog a list of the eight rules to fiction writing originally published in Vonnegut's Bagombo Snuff Box: Uncollected Short Fiction (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons 1999), p. 9-10. It's well worth reading through, marking, and remembering--even though I doubt I'll internalize his good advice for some time.
Now, back to the grindstone. Theorhetically, yesterday was my deadline for Regaining Home, and it's not finished yet. I've been turning the draft in on a weekly basis. This doesn't actually justify my not being finished, but at least it means that the editorial process has already started.
