Kurt Vonnegut's writer's rules

Jane Espenson posted on her blog a list of the eight rules to fiction writing originally published in Vonnegut's Bagombo Snuff Box: Uncollected Short Fiction (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons 1999), p. 9-10. It's well worth reading through, marking, and remembering--even though I doubt I'll internalize his good advice for some time.

Now, back to the grindstone. Theorhetically, yesterday was my deadline for Regaining Home, and it's not finished yet. I've been turning the draft in on a weekly basis. This doesn't actually justify my not being finished, but at least it means that the editorial process has already started.

It was hard to not love Vonnegut. My favorite, though, was his appearance in the movie "Back to School." It pretty much sums up my experiences with college English classes. "Whoever *did* write this doesn't know the first thing about Kurt Vonnegut!"

Regarads,

Your Editing Process ;-D

Ha! That's wonderful. Now I'll have to go get that movie out. (Although I think I'm officially not allowed to watch any more movies until I'm done with Regaining Home. Because I *really* want to be done...)
