Scanning

So, I'm working on my very first scanning project. I had actually thought about just retyping the whole book I'm working on (it's not that long), but I learned from a patron at the library about this device called the DocuPen. It's a nifty, portable scanner that comes with OCR software that I am just having a heck of a time trying to learn to use. The learning curve shouldn't be so high, but hey, it's my first assignment, so I guess that's okay. By next time, I'll be a pro.

In the meantime, I'm preparing to head back up to Simon's Rock this weekend to catch a thesis performance and a musical (and a meal or two with some wonderful folks). I have also been tasked to see if Simon's Rock still sells a) Maple Syrup, b) Hoodies with the old/real name, and c) I know there was a c, but I forget what it was.

It also occurs to me that now I have time for blogging, I have less to discuss. But it could just be that it's late and I'm tired. I will be more entertaining tomorrow.

Please give us a report down the road on how DocuPen works, what its limitations are, and so on. I do a certain amount of that, and I can't try everything. Your experience could be valuable to others out here!

Cool. Will do. Thus far the experience has been frustrating, but only because the book I'm scanning is not 8.5 by 11. I've seen it work very well on magazines, and I imagine it would work well on, say, role playing books.

I am pretty sure:
a) probably not
b) that the bookstore was not allowed to keep stocking "simon's rock college" (or "simons rock college of bard") and thus now has a mix of "bard college at simon's rock" and, fortunately, some simply "simon's rock" stuff.

a) Rats.

b) Just Simon's Rock is fine. Mostly it's the new incarnation that we were requested to *not* buy. ;)
