Oh, I hope Jennifer pops back by to answer this, because I'd *love* to know if there are girl Spartans. I know historically the women were not the front-line fighters, but I have to imagine that they had some required training to defend their homes. In Lysistrata (a fantastic ancient Greek play, if you ever get the chance to see it), the Spartan women are typically depicted as just as hard-headed and war-like as their husbands.
