Windows Vista

Due to concerns that my trusty old laptop (which I bought from a friend, used, in 2002) was about to crash and burn irrevocably, my husband and I decided to buy a new desktop. We already had the monitor. We could get a dual core processor and be speedy and hip. We'd have to get Windows Vista--something I'd wanted to avoid, because I'm not fond of change (see my January 23 entry).
As it turns out Vista has actually been pretty nifty... with two exceptions. One is that I can't download some of the nifty games I'd been waiting for a better processor to play. ("Bang Howdy" looks like an awesome free game; it's got nifty Western music. It doesn't like Vista.) The other is that Fox's MySpace account, which replays their TV shows, is completely incompatable with Vista. I was going to play "Drive" in the background today--in part because I'm enjoying it, and in part because I figure more downloads might help make up for its low ratings--but alas, I can't get it to work.

In other news, I've just found the lj button that replaced "My LJ" (which I miss) and lets me look at recent comments. I now wonder how many I missed before I found the button.

Besides, we're going to go get Neverwinter Nights (which I never did get to finish, and our old disc broke) once I'm done with my current deadlines. I think that'll fill the niche... ;)

Date: 2007-05-01 02:48 am (UTC)As for IP addresses, I'm unsure--that may be a paid only option (since it's never come up for me, and I'm still using the freebie).
