I get a few days behind on everyone else's blogs from time to time, and realize I miss all sorts of interesting stuff. For example, [livejournal.com profile] blackholly posted an update on the situation at Tara, the spiritual center of Ireland now being threatened with destruction-by-highway. Protesters gathered, forming the shape of a harp as seen from above--the pictures are great. The link to the protest is here, while the movement itself is at SaveTara.com.

The League of Reluctant Adults is still three days ahead of me in their blog, but I can't link directly to [livejournal.com profile] mdhenry's excellent entry about what to do before submitting your manuscript. I can just direct you to the Wednesday entry and hope you get a giggle out of his advice.

Edit: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dmoonfire, the direct link is here.

I just finished reading volume 1 of Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis for the first time--something I've been meaning to do for years. As you may have guessed from reading this, I'm not normally a big fan of the autobiographical comics, but this one blew me away. At the end I was literally blinking away tears from the emotion of the last chapter. Just gorgeously done.

I don't know if you want to read it, but I finished your book and actually wrote up a little thing on my opinions of it.

The link is: http://www.leagueofreluctantadults.com/2007/09/you-with-pen-step-away-from-ledge.html

If you get the RSS feed, it gives you the actual link to the full-page version. Or just look at the atom feed, but its fairly easy to get.

Great comments--thanks so much! I'll link to that on my blog, as well, if you don't mind. You're not the only person who felt that way about the dwarf; he makes a small reappearance in the second book, and in the third book I tried to give him some actual depth, which I hope reflects backwards well. I'm glad you're planning to pick up the second book as well! ;)

Oh, and thank for the link edit. I should have thought to use the rss.

Feel free to share it, it's on my blog so I consider it pretty much being as public as you can get. Links that aim the world toward me are always appreciated. :)

Oh, yeah, I'm looking forward to finishing that series.

I read Persepolis back in June and loved it. It started this feverish interest in Iran and the revolution. I've got to remember to check P2 out from the library.

*skitters off to library site*

If only my to-read pile were a little smaller, I'd do the same! :) (It may have to wait 'til November.)

I can't fathom it myself.

I'm surprised you hadn't seen this before. Kitty put it up sometime last year, and I'd sort of hoped that it would be stopped by now...
