I figured I'd better actually post a new post as some might miss an edited version of the previous one.

One of my far-more-observant-than-I readers pointed out that the article I linked to quoting George Lucas was, in fact, from a site called "TheSpoof.com." This should have been my clue that it was an Onion-like periodical, and not serious. Since it had been linked from a Google News search engine, I thought I was getting the facts! (Or, whatever the media is passing as facts on any given day. But still. I was also in the midst of working on a different project and was not paying terribly close attention.)

So, apologies for furthering the defamation of George Lucas. I can happily laugh at the article now rather than mourn my love of Star Wars.

Thanks [livejournal.com profile] dcopulsky and [livejournal.com profile] waywardbound for not being taken in by the joke. That'll teach me to pay attention to what I'm citing and frame it differently!

The best lie is a plausible one, or at least one that isn't too far from people's perceptions.

Yes. Given the response when I posted it, I suspect I'm not the only one who was fooled--at least by that one quote!
