MoveOn.org has been in my camp recently, and I love the work they're doing. First, they took on Facebook's pretty bad privacy policy decision and won. Now they're rooting for the writers by hosting a petition to bring back The Daily Show. Knowing how much media they manage to get, I can only think that this is a good thing.

Besides that, I went to college with Eli Pariser, who is one of the top guys at MoveOn. We were in creative writing classes together. So it makes me giggle that now we're both supporting the writers: him with a huge grass roots organization, and me with my little blog. :)

Here's the link to MoveOn's petition to bring back The Daily Show.

I'm not sure what another online petition will really do for the cause. Somebody should post the mailing address of the various studios involved. Physical letters would probably be rather effective.

I'm guessing MoveOn.org is most interested in having Jon Stewart make fun of the Republicans (which is always entertaining) during the campaign season. There certainly has been more than enough material.

Oh, I don't think another online petition will help. I think an online petition started by MoveOn.org will get covered by news media. And that kind of exposure can't hurt the cause.

One of the worries here is that the late-night hosts have been talking about crossing the line, making them a little more ambiguous of deserving support. ;)

MoveOn.org has a history of support for mass murderers, general leftist shenanigans and slander that borders on treason. This time, they may be doing something worthwhile.

Notice I said they've been in my camp *recently.* I admire what they're doing (setting up a ginormous grass-roots organization), but don't always agree with what they choose to do.

Working with MoveOn seems like the anti-royalists working with the Maoists against the Royalists in Nepal. (MoveOn being the Maoists here.) It is not a question of will they betray you, but when will they betray you.
