All the obituaries are finished. It was a lot harder writing Madeline L'Engle's obituary than I'd expected. I got teary-eyed all over again. One of these days, all those books of hers I haven't yet read will make it to the top of my reading list.

At least she got a good, long innings.

But yeah, it would have been nice if she could have had a few more decades to tell all the stories in her.

She was also the first (and only) author I ever wrote a fan letter for, back in second grade. :(

I have a most of hers (including out-of-print) from the thesis-writing, so let me know if there are any you have trouble finding. One of her never-published YAs was just published - have you read it yet? My brief review here: http://www.katwithak.com/archives/001042.html

I haven't yet! But I did use the PW article about it when I wrote the obit. :) I'm still years behind on her books--I never did read the Austens.
