The Google Alert has turned up something fun! Dane of War just posted a review of the Chronicles of Ramlar Soundtrack, The Dreaming, and Into the Reach got a mention!

First and foremost, the music is based on what appears within the pages of the game’s Core Rule Book and Alana Abbott’s novel – Into The Reach. Both are so rich in detail that inspiration literally oozed forth from the pages.

Now, I'm not sure if those are the words of Dane of War or if they're from composer Bryan K. Borgman, who wrote and performed the music on the album. Either way, it's very nice to hear. :)

In other random news, it is totally possible to overload on D&D if you are running a ten hour, two round expedition on Saturday and have to figure out something interesting to do with only half of your regular gaming group (instead of the adventure you planned) on Sunday. It is possible to have too much D&D in one weekend. Luckily, all the players I was hanging out with this weekend are awesome, and I had a really good time, though I ended up quite exhausted, and I'm glad I'm not gaming again until Saturday night.

Last thought of the day: I think [livejournal.com profile] asakiyume's guest blog may be my most commented on post ever. :)

Yay for mention!

Heh, speaking of D&D... just as tough as that is trying to add somebody to the dungeon when they come in the middle of it. I did my best, but she ended up not able to do much of anything at all. Not to mention confused. It didn't help that all of the PC's were neutral-to-evil and were disinclined to care.

I think I'm done with evil PC's for a while. LOL. And with DMing.

Evil PCs do bring additional complicating factors to a game table. :) I had a guest hero today, which ended up working out well--we'd have been at only three players before this. But I try to run my home games pretty episodically, so while he fit in more like a new PC would (rather than a guest hero--he may come back as a regular, which would be okay depending on the number of people who miss each session), he made the table a lot more fun.

And the players could tell I was burned out on D&D, so we had a short game--but the table was full of us laughing, so even with only three encounters and one combat, I feel like today was a success. :) It may be a nice lead-in to a visit from Apollo...

Yeah, though I'm proud of how I got them to cooperate. Not only were they all after the same goal to begin with, I got them to find (and put on!) magical bracelets that made whomever wore the matching sets take the same damage. If letting your comrade get hurt means you lose hit points too, you'll make sure nothing happens to him. Hehe.

Our table always ends up with all of us laughing, no matter how dark I try to make the dungeon. It just doesn't work. It's fun anyway. At least now that I've DM'd, it won't be my turn again for a while yet.

Ooh Apollo? I hope you post about that when it happens, if even a little bit.

Love the idea of the bracelets. That's wonderfully devious of you. :)

And I'll certainly post about Apollo when he shows up, but for now, I figured hiding him in the comments would make my players less likely to figure out what's going on...

I had to hand it to the players, though, they once again blew my Big Climactic Scene with a well-placed spell I hadn't counted on. And I learned what DM of the Rings had already stated: don't put a room there if there's nothing in it.

I was growing frustrated when my brother kept flying all around this big cavern full of water, trying to find anything other than dead leechwalkers. I told him, "you find nothing other than dead leechwalkers." But he just had to look again. "Secret doors?" "No." "I put my staff down to see how deep the water is." "You don't touch bottom."

Then the latecomer chimes in, "Well, why don't I just take this breathe underwater potion and dive in to see what's in the water?"

"You missed the whole part about the leechwalkers."

But we have fun.
